On Saturday, 23 August, the festival of African music and culture will feature Rayvanny from Tanzania, who is now arriving in Finland for the first time. On Saturday Afro-Trap artist MUSH and singer Rozea will also enter the stage. The Fest Afrika, organised since 2002, presents a programme that is once again extremely diverse, bringing to Tampere stage stage poetry, an African dinner with music and workshops. The festival will be held from 21 to 24 August 2025.
Popular Rayvanny in Finland for the First Time
The style of Rayvanny is characterised as a fusion of various musical genres, which includes elements of afrobeats and Swahili music, as well as inspiration from pop and RnB. Rayvanny was the first African artist to appear at the MTV Europe Music Awards when he performed in the gala in 2021 with Maluma his hit, “Tetema”. Rayvanny has collaborated with Diamond Platinumz and several other artists and is directing his own record label, Next Level Music. Rayvanny performs at Tuulensuu Palace on Saturday, 23 August 2025. After the concert, the party continues at the Semafor afterparty until the early morning.
Fest Afrika Highlights Emerging Stars
On Saturday, 23 August, before the premiere of the evening, you will have the opportunity to listen to emerging young artists from an African background. MUSH is an impressive Afro-Trap artist based in Helsinki and Barcelona, bringing something entirely new to the contemporary music scene. Rozéa’s soulful and graceful voice connects contemporary R’n’B with a rhythmic Afrobeat with roots in West Africa. Young local talents will perform in the festival kick off on Thursday, 21.8 at the Onda Music & Artes Café.
Friday Is About Inclusivity, Good Music and Poetry
On Friday, 22 August, the African evening for the whole family in Artteli celebrates inclusivity and cultural diversity through food, storytelling and music. As people move from one continent to another, food and music cultures also gain new forms and bring people together. In addition to delicious African dinner combining Tanzanian and Gambian flavours, there will be live music performed by Guinean flutist Guirassy Mansare and Senegalese kora virtuoso Cheick Cissokho, who will also teach in kora workshop. Ondi Madete will perform stage poetry with the theme of significance of hope and inclusivity.
In addition to the evening events, the programme includes dance workshops of various African dance styles taught by young, experienced dance teachers celebrating African culture through dance.
